A cocktail bar reminiscent of a speakeasy jazz bar

The Bowery, a jazz bar reminiscent of an old speakeasy, is a venue located in Fortitude Valley. It offers live jazz during the week and on the weekend supports local DJ’s. The venue is open from Tuesday to Sunday and is well known as a cocktail bar. It offers over fifty cocktails through four different volumes on the drink menu.

In 2009 it was ranked 8th in the top 20 bars of Asia-Pacific by The Australian Bartender Magazine. Since its creation The Bowery has been nominated for over thirty awards. In 2010 The Bowery was a finalist for Bar Manager of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Cocktail Bar of the Year, Best Drinks Selections and Cocktail List of the Year.

The Bowery, which opened in 2003, borrows its name from a street and a small neighbourhood in the southern portion of the New York City borough of Manhattan, an area infamously known for its speakeasies and gin joints during prohibition.
