Communications Council, The

Australia's peak body of marketing communications

The Communications Council represents companies in the advertising and marketing communications industry to government, publics and the media.

The Communications Council provides professional development, advocacy and support services to advertising and marketing industry.

The Communications Council adheres to a Code of Ethics created by the current corporate board members, developed to set standards for professionals within the advertising industry, and runs training courses for industry professionals to educate them on the ethical principles of the code. By doing so, The Communications Council aims to uphold a high level of ethical behaviour within the advertising industry.

The Communications Council also provides a competitive Graduate Trainee Program, which allows graduates a head start into their chosen profession with extra training, professional placements and resources specific to the industry.

History:

The Communications Council is the amalgamation of the Advertising Federation of Australia, Australiasian Writers and Art Directors Association (AWARD), the Account Planning Group and the Australiasian Promotional Marketing Association (APMA) in response to a period of industry consolidation.

The Communications Council began operations as an amalgamated organisation on New Years Day of 2010.
