Gen TV

A tertiary institution developing skills in the television industry

Run by QPIX, Queensland’s screen industry and development centre, Gen TV is a tertiary education institute aimed at addressing the skills shortages in the television industry. The focus of Gen TV’s programs is to prepare graduates for immediate uptake into the networks and television production companies, or for careers as self-starting entrepreneurs.

QPIX provides Gen TV with access to equipment and facilities, low-cost production offices, professional production advice, information services, production opportunities, screening opportunities, key industry-focus training, and a wide range of professional development.

Gen TV provides training in ultra-low budget production, designed to teach graduates the disciplines and advantages of limited budgets, so they can begin making new cost-controlled, quality product that works in a market and still contains a nett margin for them as screen professionals and entrepreneurs.

History:

QPIX was established in 1997 as an initiative of the Pacific Film and Television Commission, The Australian Film Commission, and screen industry organisations throughout Queensland.
