Caloundra Music FestivalFour day community and music festival The Caloundra Music Festival is an annual four day event. This not-for-profit community event endeavours to showcase Australian talent whilst featuring international artists. Wide assortments of music genres spaning from popular music acts through to cultural interpretations are exhibited over the course of the festival. A battle-of-the-bands promotion is run in the lead up to the event to encourage local talent from Brisbane to Noosa; with the winners receiving the last spot on stage at the Caloundra Music Festival. The Caloundra Music Festival is a family friendly event which represents the Sunshine Coast’s commitment to developing community pride and promoting cultural diversity. The event celebrates not only music but is also dedicated to the environment, cultural achievement and community pride in the Caloundra area. The festival includes community activities such as a street parade, beach-side carnival, markets, food stalls, and further encourages new acts by running interactive sessions and workshops whilst also featuring roving performers and buskers. The festival aims to increase local tourism and boost visitation to the area; as well as demonstrate environmental sustainability. The Caloundra Music Festival provides inclusive opportunities to encourage cultural experiences; promoting community well-being and pride. History:The Caloundra Music Festival was first held in 2007 and is centred in and around the Kings Beach Park precinct, Caloundra. The park features a specially built amphitheatre with a covered stage fronted by grassy parklands. The festival is a supporter of the Music Association of the Sunshine Coast (MASC); it actively promotes the MASC in the Park Band Competition which supports and promotes local musicians and music industry members. The Caloundra Music Festival is run and supported by The Sunshine Coast Regional Council, and sponsored by Queensland Events, Caloundra Tourism and many others.
