Gold Coast Multicultural Festival
Gold Coast based cultural festival that celebrates diverse cultures
The Gold Coast Multicultural Festival has been recognised as a key community event by Gold Coast City Council. The festival not only promotes awareness but aims to support a greater sense of community and belonging, as well as facilitating mutual respect and understanding between different cultural groups. It has become a fantastic showcase of the cultural diversity that the Gold Coast city has to offer, with more than 26 per cent of Gold Coast residents being born overseas.
The festival has become an occasion where numerous cultural groups can showcase their food, fashion, music, art and dance to the general public. Also, the attendance of service providers enables useful information to be provided to the culturally and linguistically diverse community.
History:The Gold Coast Multicultural Festival began in 2008, as a way of promoting awareness and participation in cultural activities within Australia. It aims to unite cultures that co-exist on the Gold Coast and to provide a day of ‘Fun & Diversity’ that all families can enjoy.
