Brisbane Indian TimesFree full colour Indian newspaper The Brisbane Indian Times is Queensland’s first free, full colour Indian newspaper. The aim of the newspaper is to provide balanced, multicultural reporting, with emphasis on local events. The newspaper was officially launched by the Lord Mayor of Redcliffe, Councillor Allan Boulton, on September 24, 2003. Over 15,000 free copies of the Brisbane Indian Times are distributed monthly, with an estimated readership of 35,000. The distribution area for the Brisbane Indian Times includes Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Northern Queensland, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland and Fiji. Distribution channels include Indian stores (spices and fashion), Indian restaurants and mosques, gurdwaras, Indian temples and other retails outlets. In 2004 the Brisbane Indian Times introduced the Multicultural Community Awards, an annual event which recognises the efforts of individuals and businesses within the community.
