Frock Paper Scissors
A professional fashion and lifestyle magazine produced by QUT students
Frock Paper Scissors is a complementary fashion and lifestyle magazine produced annually by QUT students. It features Brisbane’s fashionable culture through the styling, writing and marketing skills of fashion and journalism students. All content from Frock is sourced from those within the Fashion and Style Journalism unit at QUT, making its point of difference unbridled youth, optimism and determination.
The 2011 issue offers an insight into the local fashion industry; this year the team aimed to reveal Brisbane’s talent, explore its cultural web and delve into its eclectic fashion scene. With an array of content spanning from photo shoots through to feature articles, this year’s edition also has a heavy focus on menswear for the first time in its history, while the Fashion Design Graduates section is a continuing feature.
Joining the ranks of other print media delving online, Frock’s online presence is only getting stronger. With unique news and features, street style photography and other bits and bobs, the website is no longer simply an extension of the magazine. The site however also displays a free online copy of the issue as well as past editions.
Printing and distribution (approximately 5000 copies per year) is reliant on students sourcing advertisements and then delivering copies to fashion precincts across Brisbane and South East Queensland.
History:Frock is produced by a different team each year, and offered as a subject unit since 2006; each edition’s direction and content is dependent on that cohort and the new editorial teams vision.
