Radar Radio
National digital station focusing on new music and Australian talent
Radar Radio was conceived to fill the gap in the Australian market to discover new talent through unsigned artists uploading their work to the website. Whilst the station still encourages artists to upload their own music, it also receives songs via record companies that have yet to receive mainstream airplay.
Broadcasting all genres of music, Radar Radio aims to fulfil their audience’s need for new music to adopt and love. Their primary audience is all people 15-29 years who want to stay ahead of the pack in regards to new music.
Undiscovered artists can upload their music to the website to gain exposure on a nationally broadcasted station. Listeners then have the opportunity to learn more about artists, comment, like, buy tracks and share the artists with their friends on the Radar website.
Radar Radio can be listened to on digital radio through the DAB+ frequency, the website and iPhone app.
History:Radar Radio is Australia’s first commercial digital radio station and was launched back in December 2008 by Southern Cross Austereo. Originally only accessed online, Radar Radio began broadcasting digitally in Brisbane in May 2009 when digital radio was switched on. In 2011, Austereo merged with Southern Cross Media to become Southern Cross Austereo, a national media company owning radio and television stations (such as Radar Radio) across both metro and regional markets.
