It is the Brisbane based Nova branded station, which is owned by DMG Australia who has stations in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Marketing their brand on a radio station that ‘sounds different’; the stations’ format attracts a younger audience. Nova 106.9 broadcasts various radio shows throughout the day that are targeted towards the 10 to 39 year old demographic. These programs feature some celebrities such as: Meshel, Ash & Tim , Ryan, Monty & Wippa and Merrick, Rosso & Kate Ritchie. Nova ’s frequency is 106.9. History:In 1996, Paul Thompson was approached by London-based international media company Daily Mail and General Trust to build a national radio network in Australia. Thompson’s history in Australian radio motivated this approach, having established and operated the Austereo network over the previous 15 year period. DMG ’s first purchase, in September 1996, was the low-rating, loss-making talk station, FIVEaa in Adelaide. DMG then purchased 59 regional stations. On April 1st 2001 in Sydney, DMG launched Nova 969. DMG subsequently bought licenses in Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane, Around 2004, the company sold its regional assets to concentrate on its capital city stations. In April 2005, Nova 106.9 began broadcast.
