Nova 106.9 FM (Nova) is a popular commercial station (with live online streaming) that broadcasts a variety of programs daily, targeted towards the 10 to 39 year old demographic with unique comedy talent, constant new music and the focus of marketing their brand on a radio station that ‘sounds different’.

Nova is dedicated to bringing new music to their audiences supporting new Australian artist through initiatives such as I Am With The Band and Sounds Like New. The Nova Network is currently a partner of the Australian Music Prize, ARIA Awards, Music Oz Awards and various music festivals in Australia.

In September 2011 Nova refreshed their Breakfast and Drive shows with new talent aimed at boosting listenership. The Nielsen’s September 2011 Survey Six results placed Nova in the top three for Breakfast, Drive, Evening and overall on Brisbane radio.

Nova uses its website to keeps listeners updated with important information ranging from competitions, podcasts, features, show and presenter descriptions, and the latest photos, videos and interviews.

History:

In 1996 London-based, Daily Mail and General Trust (DMG) approached Paul Thompson AM to build a national radio network in Australia. Thompson’s history in Australian radio involved establishing and operating the Austereo network. DMG’s first purchase in September 1996 was the station, FIVEaa in Adelaide, following with the purchase of 59 regional stations. In April 2001 DMG launched Sydney’s Nova 969. DMG subsequently bought licenses in Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane resulting in the company selling regional assets to concentrate on their capital city stations. In April 2005 Nova began broadcasting nationally.
