A festival showcasing innovative accomplishments in Australian jazz music

The Valley Jazz Festival is a five day celebration of jazz music that is held annually in Brisbane’s live music precinct, Fortitude Valley. It is a key event on the national jazz music circuit Presented by Jazz Queensland. The festival aims to deliver an innovative and culturally rich program, providing diverse opportunities for the community to experience and engage with contemporary Australian jazz artists and styles.

In 2011 the festival returns to the streets of Fortitude Valley, bringing with it over 200 local, regional and national artists, across more than 16 live music venues, attracting over 7000 visitors. The event supports local and emerging talent and provides a platform for presenting national and internationally acclaimed artists. Special festival events in 2011 includes, Jazz Composers World Premier, Jazz Vocalist Award Ceremony, emerging artists stage, public entertainment stages plus many more.

The festival strives to maintain an ongoing commitment to the community through affordable ticket prices and mostly free events. Its owner Jazz Queensland Incorporated will reschedule Valley Jazz Festival in 2013 based on its funding availability.

The Valley Jazz Festival was founded in 2004 by Jazz Queensland as a means of cultivating live music in Brisbane and promoting jazz music throughout Queensland.
