Queensland Academy for Creative Industries

A school for students seeking careers in the creative industries

The Queensland Academy for Creative Industries (QACI) is a state school for high-performing students in years 10-12. The school maintains a unique partnership with Education Queensland and Queensland University of Technology.

QACI’s curriculum combines base study of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with tertiary studies and real-time learning within the creative industries, the corporate sector and arts community, allowing students to work with industry professionals. QACI allows students to study the creative subjects of visual arts, film, theatre arts or music in addition to other school subjects.

The academy is a seven-story building located on the Kelvin Grove Campus of Queensland University of Technology, with facilities including a student research centre, specialised visual art and media rooms, specialised theatre spaces and universal spaces. Its location allows students to undertake university subjects and generally be more prepared for university life.

History:

As part of the Smart State Strategy, the Premier, the Hon. Peter Beattie MLA announced the creation of the Queensland Academies in 2005. The creation of the Academies was an innovative alternative educational program for highly capable high school students.
