QUT Urban Country Music FestivalA free annual festival showcasing country music talent The QUT Urban Country Music Festival is four days of concerts, events and entertainment held in Caboolture. The event is free and features predominantly country music, along with markets, competitions and workshops. The festival is made up of free events and performances from artists which are held on multiple stages over the course of the festival. Concerts include the Burbs ‘n Bush Party, Main Concert, Urban Blaze Concert , and the Farewell Concert, to finish the festival with a bang on the Monday. Events and competitions over the four days include Bacon Racin, Bush Poets Corner, Breakfasts and Poetry Competitions and the Voice of Urban Country Talent Search. Other events include busking, farmers markets, Dusty’s Kids , Chill Out Activities and the Beaut Ute Show, with some of the best utes in the country. Over 500 artists on 11 stages entertain country music fans. Previous acts at the the QUT Urban Country Music Festival include Troy Cassar- Daley, Travis Watts, Talia Wittmann, The McClymonts, Kirsty Lee Akers, Lee Kernighan, Beccy Cole , John Williamson, Adam Harvey and Casey Watt. New additions to the 2009 festival include The Arena and Mini Farm Fantastic both located at Next Generation Station. History:The QUT Urban Country Music Festival began in 2004. The event was originally held in Caboolture, north of Brisbane and south of the Sunshine Coast, to encompass the ‘urban/ country’ experience and feel of the festival. The festival is always held over the Queensland Labour Day long weekend and now runs over four days. The QUT Urban Country Music Festival is principally sponsored by QUT and supported by the Caboolture Shire Herald, Cross Country Realty and many others which host individual events.
