Queensland Conservatorium offers high quality facilities and performance venues

Situated in Brisbane’s premier arts precinct, the facilities at the Queensland Conservatorium’s South Bank campus include a 615-seat concert hall, cutting edge music technology studios and one of the most comprehensive music libraries in Australia. The Conservatorium’s smaller performance venues are primarily used by the music students of Griffith University, but are also available for private hire.

The venues and facilities at the Queensland Conservatorium (also known as ‘The Con’) are architecturally, acoustically and technologically outstanding. With its three main performance venues housed within the Queensland Conservatorium, there are the appropriate facilities to cater from small chamber ensembles to large scale musical performances, opera and ballet. Additionally, there are also multimedia labs as well as high quality recording facilities.

The Conservatorium Theatre includes concert lighting and sound, dressing rooms and two Steinway pianos. AV facilities are also available. As for patrons, the Conservatorium Theatre is equipped with facilities for those who are mobility or hearing impaired.

As a performance venue, The Foyer suits choral music and baroque instrumentation, with the capacity to have performances from the balcony.

The Basil Jones Orchestral Hall is an ideal performance venue for small concerts, master-classes and rehearsals and the Ian Hanger Recital Hall is a raked-seating venue that is suitable for intimate music performances, recitals, chamber music and rehearsals.

Established in 1957, The Conservatorium has developed an international reputation for excellence in conservatoire training. The Conservatorium has operated from South Bank since 1996.
