Brisbane History Group Inc.
Publish and promote the study of Brisbane’s history
The Brisbane History Group Inc. (BHG) promotes research of Brisbane’s history through seminars and tours. The group also plays an active role in persuading government to establish heritage legislation and seeks to encourage collaboration and co-operation between the academic world, wider community and other historical and heritage bodies.
The BHG publishes a range of papers, tour guides, sources, facsimiles and studies which are sought by various organisations such as libraries, schools and tertiary institutions. These publications map a comprehensive history of Brisbane and surrounds including a range of topics from Aboriginal Presence of the 1800s, Federation in the 1900s to the formation of modern day Brisbane city.
Members of the public can join The Brisbane History Group for a small fee, which includes a copy of a regular newsletter The Brisbane Courier.
History:The Brisbane History Group was formed in 1981 to encourage and promote the study of Brisbane’s history.
