Queensland Pride
Free monthly gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender publication.
Queensland Pride is Queensland’s longest running gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) publication. It covers local, national and international news and current affairs pertinent to the GLBT community. It also includes sections on entertainment, finance, health issues, lifestyle and scene happenings.
Queensland Pride is published monthly and has a circulation of 25,000. It is available by subscription, online, or for free at various high traffic GLBT access points within Queensland and Northern New Sout Wales. Current issues can be downloaded from the Queensland Pride website.
History:The first issue of Queensland Pride went into production following the Queensland Government’s decriminalisation of homosexual practices in November 1990. It was officially launched as a newspaper-sized publication in January 1991 and adopted a magazine format in mid 2004. In June 2007 it was acquired by Evolution Publishing, Australia’s largest GLBT publishing house. Upon becoming part of Evolution Publishing, Queensland Pride transitioned from a newsprint format to a high quality, full colour, full gloss format.
