ABC2
A public television channel in Australia
ABC2 is the responsibility of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s Television Division (ABC TV).
It is a government funded, free-to-air digital television channel consumed throughout Australia. It is currently available to over 96 per cent of the Australian population in both metropolitan and regional areas.
ABC2 features repeats of popular ABC 1 programs and focuses on children, regional, arts, social commentary, international news and music programs. The channel does not broadcast 24 hours a day and stimulates viewers between midnight and 3am, re-opening at 6:00am each morning. The ABC Guide and ABC DiG are broadcast while the channel is closed overnight.
History:ABC2 was established in 2005 independent of government funding.
