A training institution offering visual art and design courses

The Queensland College of Art (QCA) is a visual arts training institution that offers a wide range of visual art and design studies for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The college focuses on creative, studio-based activity, while drawing on the resources of Griffith University, a large innovative institution.

Fields include animation, games design, contemporary Australian indigenous art design studies, graphic design, interior design, product design, fine art, intermedia, jewellery and small objects, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, commercial photography, creative advertising photography, photographic art practice, photojournalism, screen production, and film and television. Specialisations exist which enable students to study a number of different disciplines within one program.

QCA, as part of Griffith University, has broad access to resources as well as a range of programs and staff expertise. Most of the QCA’s visual art and design programs are offered at the South Bank campus; however, several programs are also offered at the Gold Coast campus.

History:

QCA was established in 1881 and is the longest-running art and design college. Over the past 126 years, the college has produced thousands of professional artists and designers who have helped shape the art and design culture of Queensland and Australia.
