Australian Teachers of Media Queensland, Inc.

An association of media educators in Queensland

The Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) is an association of teachers, academics and professionals in the media industries. ATOM is a not-for-profit organisation that facilitates communication and professional development amongst media educators in Queensland. They have been actively involved in major developments in Queensland media education including several versions of the syllabus for senior film and television. Most recently, ATOM has advocated for the inclusion of the arts in the developing Australian curriculum and media’s place within it as one of five art forms.

ATOM Queensland Inc provides professional development opportunities for teachers, as well as resources on the latest developments within media. Workshops and seminars are being arranged throughout the year, in addition to tours across the state like Media in the Classroom Tour 2005. ATOM Queensland Inc supports initiatives including the ATOM Awards, Cine Sparks, Liquid Lens, Energex Race Around the Ekka Film Competition, Brisbane International Film Festival and The Warner Roadshow Studios Queensland New Filmmakers Awards.
