Multidisciplinary research for collaborative futures

The Institute for Creative Industries and Innovation (iCi) is a multidisciplinary research centre, dedicated to building research capacity at the Queensland University of Technology. As one of four flagship research institutes at the university, iCi fosters, promotes, and manages collaborative research across six faculties, encouraging creative and innovative outputs that advance beyond the boundaries of disciplinary research.

iCi delivers research and commercialisation ventures combining the expertise of professional researchers, PhD scholars, private industry, and government partners. The Institute houses the ARC (Australian Research Council) Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation – one of Australia’s most renowned research ventures in creativity and innovation, Urban Infomatics , the Independent Music Project , Yodel Services and the QUT Gasworks Studio .

Believing interdisciplinarity is at the frontier of 21st Century research, the Institute’s priority is to support and facilitate such a research environment. iCi provides the research leadership that enables researchers to focus on new areas of research.
The Institute has a special interest in research that promotes collaboration, creative futures and novel online technologies. Its research, including ARC funded and pilot projects, is aimed at facilitating the innovative outcomes that can be achieved only through interdisciplinary research. iCi’s research caters and supports industry, government, education and creative services in Australia.
