Festivals Australia funds regional and community festivals

Festivals Australia is a cultural grants program run by the Australian Government that provides financial support to Australian regional and community festivals that could otherwise not be afforded without the funding. To be eligible for a grant, applicants must be organisations that manage regular festivals. Such organisations include local governments and councils, cultural organisations and regional arts councils. Funding new or special types of cultural activities is a priority for the grants as a key objective of the program is to improve and enhance local communities’ cultural images.

Two rounds of funding are assigned each year, with annual closing dates of 15 February for projects starting after 1 July and 15 July for projects starting after 1 January. The Festivals Australia Committee assesses applications using a competitive selection process.

Festivals Australia was established in 1995 in recognition and support of the contribution that regional and community festivals make to diversify cultural life.
