Community Broadcasting Foundation, The
An independent funding agency that distributes funds for the maintenance and development of community broadcasting
The Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF) aims to assist the Australian community broadcasting sector in becoming well-resourced, independent, diverse and accessible. It does so through the solicitation and distribution of finances to cover the operational and developmental costs of community broadcasting.
Grants are provided for vast array of broadcasters, particularly those within a niche community, as well as national program production and infrastructure development projects. The CBF also funds particular sector research and co-ordination as well as station infrastructure and support.
The CBF is supported by the Australian Government through the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy and is further assisted with additional Indigenous community broadcasting funding.
History:As a non-profit organisation, the CBF has been assisting community broadcasting agencies including specialist services for Ethnic, Indigenous and Radio for the Print Handicapped audiences.
