WPP is a global communication services group. It has 84,000 members in over 2000 offices in 106 countries. WPP companies provide integrated services to clients including more than 300 of the Fortune Global 500, over half of the Nasdaq 100 and over 30 of the Fortune e-50. History:The first office was opened in 1934 as George Patterson and Bates. Patterson and Young and Rubicam (YR) merged in October, 2006. Since the 1930s, the agency has created advertisements for clients such as Jatz, Colgate, VB, Smiths Chips, Panasonic, Palmolive, CC’s, Energiser, Shell, Yellow Pages, Tim Tams, LG, Suncorp, NSW Health, MMM Melbourne, Spring Valley, Woman’s Day and Rugby World Cup. George Patterson and Partners was the first agency to make a television commercial in Australia. It was an advertisement for Coleman’s Mustard. In 2000, Bmagazine voted the “Agency of the Century” to George Patterson and Partners. It is also the only agency to win the Gold “AFA” effectiveness award for direct marketing.
