98.9FM is a First Nations Foundation radio station

98.9FM was the first Indigenous radio station to be established in a capital city in 1993. The station provides a blend of country and Indigenous music, attracting a diverse range of listeners across Brisbane and its surrounding areas. Its mission is to provide an appropriate media service for the cultural and economic independence of Indigenous people. Staying true to this mission, the station has won a number of awards for Indigenous broadcasting and is committed to providing quality broadcasting of Indigenous music, issues and news.

98.9FM plays regular daily messages relating to Indigenous health, social and emotional well-being, crime prevention, suicide prevention and other issues of importance to Indigenous people. 98.9 FM is part of the National Indigenous Radio Service that reaches over 120 radio stations across Australia through a satellite network in windows media player.

History:

98.9FM first broadcast on air on 6 April 1993 and has won a number of awards for Indigenous broadcasting and has a commitment to quality broadcasting of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music, issues and news.
