Jazz Queensland

Queensland's leading non-profit jazz association

Jazz Queensland is a non-profit incorporated association dedicated to presenting and promoting jazz throughout Queensland. As presenters of the Valley Jazz Festival and co-presenters of the Brisbane Festival, Jazz Queensland aims to provide a forum for innovation, as well as a platform for presenting national and international artists.

Through Jazz Queensland’s information services and regular programs of events, the organisation promotes skills development and professional practices, while advancing the recognition of Queensland’s jazz artists and jazz music by engaging artists, audiences, venues, businesses, promoters, the media and educators in support of jazz. In addition, Jazz Queensland works to profile and create job opportunities for local, national and international artists, encouraging the development of original jazz compositions and present live jazz music events.

Jazz Queensland also offers membership benefits such as an information service and discounts to events. Furthermore, Jazz Queensland produces and distributes a monthly e-news edition and gig guide for free to the wider community.

Jazz Queensland began as the Jazz Co-Ordination Program of Queensland in 1983, and officially became an association in 1996. Its mission is to foster a strong and artistic jazz life in Queensland by promoting development and public access to jazz. Jazz Queensland is also a key organisation of the Australia Council’s music board.
