Queensland Conservation Council

The chief non-government environment organisation in Queensland

The Queensland Conservation Council (QCC) is Queensland’s peak environment organisation, leading the way towards environmental protection and sustainability. It aims to protect, conserve and sustain Queensland’s natural environment.

QCC represents the major regional and community environmental and conservation organisations in Queensland. QCC builds strategic alliances with government, industry, business and the community to attain workable and sustainable outcomes for the protection of the environment.

Supported by member groups, donors, benefactors and volunteers, QCC is able to identify problems, research solutions, run public awareness programs and obtain Government support and action. In 2009/2010 QCC worked on four major campaigns including Climate Change, Save Water, Grow Local and Nature Conservation.

History:

The Queensland Conservation Council was established in 1969 as the South Queensland Conservation Council, by 1975, QCC had grown to serve 66 organisations and over 300 individual associate members.
