Commercial radio station with an adult contemporary format

97.3FM is a commercial radio station listed as a metropolitan station under the Australian Radio Network (ARN). The station is targeted specifically at listeners aged 25-54 and is primarily focused on playing Brisbane’s Best Mix of the 1980s, 1990s and now. 97.3FM also broadcasts digitally through the DAB+ format.

The 2011 Nielsen Company Survey (Survey 6) reported 97.3FM as Brisbane’s number one rating station. More specifically it is consistently the most popular station with its female target audience.

97.3 FM is committed to broadcasting feel-good music throughout its programs and ensures that announcing is kept up-to-date and entertaining, yet to a minimum.

In May 2001, Brisbane’s first new radio licence in 21 years was auctioned and the joint venture of ARN and DMG successfully bid $67 million to secure the licence. It is through this joint venture that 97.3FM was created. On 15 October 2001, 97.3FM was officially launched with its first breakfast shift at 5:30am. 97.3 FM has experienced a stable on-air line presence since its launch and is now solely owned by ARN.
