Greek Film Festival

Annual festival promoting and celebrating Greek culture

The Greek Film Festival of Brisbane is an initiative of the Greek Orthodox Community of St George, Brisbane. The main role of the festival is to showcase classic and contemporary Greek cinema produced in Greece, and to ensure that the art of Greek filmmaking will receive broader recognition in Australia. The program combines high profile premieres with independent and art house screenings, as well as prestigious opening and closing events.

The Greek Film Festival also acts as an annual celebration of Greek culture and community nation-wide, with the festival touring nationally with Palace Cinemas.

The event is supported by several key partners including the Greek Orthodox Community of St George, Palace Cinemas and the Greek Film Centre.

The Greek Film Festival started in 1993 in Sydney and expanded to Brisbane in 2002, before establishing itself as a national event in 2003.
