Read the interview with Rosemary Odgers, State Political Reporter
The Courier Mail is a Brisbane-based newspaper printed daily from Monday to Saturday. The paper features content directly relevant to Brisbane and Queensland as a whole.
The Courier-Mail targets a broad range of demographics and contains a wide variety of special interest sections. These include: detailed analysis and comment; gossip; controversial bloggers; extensive reader reaction; newsy and offbeat videos; popular picture galleries.
In addition to this, there is an entertainment section which contains reviewers and cinema, TV and music guides. The sections provide background on areas on interest from the serious to the frivolous. The Courier Mail has classifieds, funeral notices and death notices, jobs, property and accommodation, car sales and personals.
These specialised sections play a significant role in The Courier Mail’s high readership figures and its position as the biggest selling daily newspaper.
Monday to Friday’s Courier Mail is co-published in Brisbane and Townsville, allowing for a greater focus and penetration into northern Queensland.
History:The Daily Mail and Brisbane Courier merged in August 1933 to form The Courier Mail. On March 13, 2006 The Courier Mail changed from a broadsheet to tabloid format.
