Mental Health Association Queensland

A mental health advocacy group

The Mental Health Association (MHA) caters for its members by producing a quarterly journal called Balance, and a newsletter named BetweenUs eight times a year. Balance provides a forum for health promotion, information dissemination and discussion of mental health issues. It is aimed at a broad group of academics, health professionals, students, consumers, carers and the general community who have an interest in social and emotional wellbeing. BetweenUs updates members on workshops, seminars and other mental health and community events.

The MHA library service, which is accessible online, is a partnership between three libraries in Queensland: The MHA, The Mental Illness Fellowship (North Queensland) Inc. and The Mental Health Resource Service.

MHA has four branches in Ipswich, Gold Coast, Bundaberg and Cairns. It provides services to the community through its headquarters at Wacol and its Gold Coast branch. MHA offers support to those in need through publications and promotions, counselling and community outreach programs, individual advocacy for people with a mental illness, QC-Move (personal support program), Skilling Queenslanders for Work project, Leap into Life Training College and a state-wide library service.
