The Australian is one of a very few nationally circulated broadsheet newspaper printed Monday to Saturday. Circulation figures for The Australian’s are more than 130,000 and their readership is 432,000.
The Australian’s head office is in Sydney but it is printed at various locations around the nation. It has permanent bureaus in every state and territory capital as well as in Cairns. Brisbane’s bureau is small yet plays an important role in the function of the paper as it reports on events all over southern Queensland and parts of northern New South Wales. The bureau employs a small group of journalists and photographers who report exclusively to The Australian.
