UQconnect
Internet Service Provider for the UQ community
UQconnect provides Internet services for the University of Queensland community, which includes the university, as well as private accounts for staff, students, alumni, other Queensland education institutions, and external community such as home users, business users, and visitors.
UQconnect provides a wide range of products in order to meet the diverse needs of its customer base. This includes the network infrastructure throughout University of Queensland, on and off campus wireless broadband, dial-up, ADSL, web hosting, domain name, housing of equipment, laptops, software, email and international phone cards. It has two high-speed links to the global Internet, which are constantly monitored and upgraded to meet client requirements.
UQconnect is connected through Australia’s Academic and Research Network (AARNet) which is one of the fastest information networks in the southern hemisphere, as well as an additional high-grade connection through AAPT.
History:UQconnect is an initiative of Information Technology Services at the University of Queensland launched on 1 March 2001.
