Creative Assembly (CA) is a leading computer games developer based in Sussex in the U.K, with an Australian office based in Brisbane. The company has worked with Electronic Arts to produce a variety of games under the EA Sports brand and also produced original titles such as Spartan: Total Warrior and Viking: Battle For Asgard. CA is best known the award-winning Total War brand of strategy games. In April 2005 Sega acquired the CA.

The Australian CA studio employs around seventy programmers, artists and designers working in full-time, part-time and casual positions. It also hires a large number of English programmers on short-term visas to work in its Brisbane office. The Brisbane based studio has produced titles such as Medieval II: Total War which topped UK charts and won a number of awards including Best Strategy Game of E3 2006. Its other titles include Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms and more recently the real time strategy game Stormrise for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Tim Ansell, who retains ownership over the agency, founded CA in 1987. The company’s early work involved porting games from the Amiga and ZX Spectrum platforms to DOS. In 1993, CA began working with Electronic Arts to produce a number of successful titles under the EA Sports label. The flagship Total War series began in 1999. Since developing Shogun: Total War, Medieval: Total War and Rome: Total War, CA has expanded its operations overseas. New business development officer, George Fidler (previously the chief of EA Australia) heads the office in Fortitude Valley.

In April 2005 Sega bought out CA. It continues to expand its Total War series and develop new console and PC video games.
