Rocking Horse Records is Queensland’s largest independent record store. Located in Brisbane’s Central Business District, it caters to consumers of all genres with an extensive selection of both new and second hand, independent, local and imported music. Rocking Horse offers a large range of recent hip-hop, techno, house, trance, drum ‘n’ bass and break-beat releases on vinyl, as well as a selection of rare music memorabilia. As well as selling a wide range of tickets for concerts and other music events, Rocking Horse Records aims to cater to local music enthusiasts.
History:Rocking Horse Records opened its doors in 1975, making it Queensland’s oldest independent record store. Recent years have seen the store also secure its reputation as the largest independent record store, moving from its original location on Adelaide Street, to bigger premises in Albert Street.
In 2005 and 2007 Rocking Horse Records was named the Australian Record Industry Association’s (ARIA) Independent Store of the Year.
