Semper Floreat
A magazine made by UQ students for students
Semper Floreat is a student paper run by the University of Queensland’s Student Union and is distributed free across UQ campuses and a few inner city locations.
Semper Floreat translates from Latin to “May it Always Flourish” and it is the only student-run magazine remaining in Queensland.
With a strong left-wing viewpoint on student issues and politics, Semper Floreat aims to be a voice for alternative and independent news.
Students and staff are encouraged to contribute articles, creative writing and art work for publication.
It is published bi-monthly during the academic year and can also be accessed online.
History:Semper Floreat began as a fortnightly newsletter of only a few pages in 1932, when it was edited by William A. Mahoney and E. T. S Pearce. In 2005 Semper Floreat became a 32-page, bi-monthly magazine printed with a gloss cover and produced by three full-time editors.
