Australian International Movie ConventionAn annual event for all areas of Australian film The Australian International Movie Convention is an annual event for the distribution, exhibition and allied trade film industry. Its focus is to discuss issues that affect the business of motion pictures in an era of changing technologies as well as providing networking opportunities with international allies, operated through trade shows, conferences and guest speakers. The convention includes screening sections for distributors as well as a conference held on the Gold Coast to provide a forum for interaction between all areas of the film industry in Australia. Members range from national companies with interests in Queensland to smaller provincial independent cinemas. The Australian Movie Convention attracts delegates from Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the United States and Europe. The event also organises an awards night for various sections of the film industry. The Australian International Movie Convention was established in 1915 as a non-profit association.
