Australian Commercial and Media Photographers
Development and promotion of Australian commercial and advertising photographers
The focus of the Australian Commercial and Media Photographers (ACMP) is the development and promotion of professional photography. Its members are provided with information on the many issues in photographic practice, such as copyright re-usage, contracts, sales tax, legal protection, digital imaging, insurance, and standard terms and conditions. In this regard it has a resemblance to the Australian Institute of Professional Photography.
The ACMP aims to safeguard and promote the interests of photographers by promoting high professional standards and ethics in photography. It also promotes co-operation and understanding between photographers and their clients. One of the activities that the ACMP has established includes the annual Fuji ACMP Australian Photographers’ Collection. It showcases the best Australian photographic work of the year and tours as a gallery across the country. In addition to the tour there is a book published to document the works across various photographic genres.
The ACMP publishes Pro News, a free newsletter aimed at the professional photographer. Its members also receive the e-newsletter fNet and access to Better Business Bible. ACMP also plays an important role in lobbying the government on photographic industry issues such as sales tax and intellectual property issues.
History:ACMP was established in 1991 and currently has a membership of approximately 400.
