The Edge Digital
The Edge Digital is a popular music radio broadcaster
The Edge Digital is a digital radio station which broadcasts popular music – predominantly R&B, hip-hop and dance music. As such, the station targets a younger demographic with an interest in Top 40 chart music.
The station features no commercials and minimal presenter air time, focusing primarily on broadcasting music. The Edge Digital broadcasts locally for each market, with its Brisbane studios located in Stones Corner; however it does share some programs, such as its breakfast show, which is broadcast out of Sydney.
The Edge’s website hosts information about both 96.ONE and The Edge Digital. Information about the programs and their presenters, videos, photos and entertainment are all available on the site. Users can also listen to either station, subscribe to podcasts, view recent playlists or find the station’s contact information here.
Listeners can find The Edge Digital by searching their DAB+ (digital) radio or through the website. DAB+ radio is currently only available in Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Sydney and Melbourne, with more locations to be added progressively.
History:The Edge Digital is the digital counterpart of The Edge 96.ONE, a Sydney-based radio broadcaster. Both The Edge Digital and The Edge 96.ONE are owned by the Australian Radio Network which acquired The Edge 96.ONE in 1997. The Australian Radio Network owns Brisbane radio broadcasters 97.3 and 4KQ, and is part owned by APN News and Media, and Clear Channel International. The Edge 96.ONE has experimented with top 40 contemporary hit music programming with a brief foray into alternative rock in 1998.
