Big Jam, TheBrisbane's biggest celebration of local original music The Big Jam is one of Brisbane’s best music events of the year and is organised by QUT’s Independent Music Project (IMP) and supported by Ellaways Music. The Big Jam aims to begin a Guinness World Record for the world’s longest non-stop recording session with multiple artists, making it the longest ever jam session. Big Jam begins on Monday August 31, and musicians tag-team for a total of six days at the new QUT recording studio in Newstead before being transported to the Botanic Gardens Riverstage for the finale on Sunday September 6. The Big Jam features Ed Kuepper from the 70’s punk band The Saints, as well as The Smokestack Orchestra, Tara Simmons, The Heroes, The Cardboard Kids and Asa Broomhall. This event also features emerging artists which include 8th Ride, Wren, Kybosh, Montpelier, Chamberland and High Priests. Big Jam also features many local house bands and professional recording teams including Grammy – winning Mike Howlett from the cult band Gong and Head of Music at QUT, John Willsteed former member of the Go Betweens, as well as the Apartments, Disgrace Land and The Rip Tides.
