Shillington College allows students to learn graphic design within 3 months (full time) or 1 year part time. The College teaches design in a studio environment; focusing on the skills required to move into the industry regardless of prior experience of design.

Shillington College believes that the design portfolio is paramount. Everything taught leads to a commercially relevant brief, which then forms part of a portfolio, giving students the best possible chance of securing a position in the graphic design industry. Students are taught by professionals who want to pass their own skills and experience onto the next generation of creative talent.

Shillington College instills the basics of the graphic design process. Each brief is structured to teach students something new, pushing the program they are exploring and contributing to a final portfolio. The design process includes creating rough visuals, brainstorming, thinking laterally, considering design principles, colour and typography. The production process is also covered and includes pre-press and printing methods.

Shillington College was originally established in 1989 as Shillington Graphics. The first Shillington College course was run in Sydney in 1997 with Colleges opening from 2008 in Melbourne, Brisbane, London, Manchester and New York.
