Wickham Hotel, The
Brisbane queer music and entertainment venue
The Wickham Hotel architecturally revives classic Queenslander style and is well known as Brisbane’s GLBT music and entertainment venue. It offers several outdoor areas, live shows, gaming rooms, dance bars and function rooms. It is a popular gay and lesbian venue in Brisbane.
The Wickham Hotel features nightly entertainment by resident DJs such as Les Smith, Matt Steer, Ish, Paulie B and Kandi Kane. It has regular guest appearances from DJs such as Mike Evans, Dave Abell, Sveta, Sandi Hotrod, Wayne G & Neroli. Other entertainment includes drag queen performances by artists such as Ms Synthetique and Crystal Dior.
The Wickham Hotel also hosts special events such as Hoedown, Pride Fair Day After Party and Melbourne Cup Drag Race Day.
It hosts the Big Gay Day each year which raises thousands of dollars for local GLBT charities.
History:The Wickham Hotel officially became a queer venue in 1994, celebrating its Sweet 16th as an event in early 2010.
