Internet Service Provider offering communication and networking solutions
Uecomm was Australia’s first dedicated optical fibre carrier. Uecomm offers a range of networking services designed particularly for large-scale corporations, service providers, government departments, small to medium sized enterprises and businesses. The Uecomm network facilitates the convergence of communication channels by combining voice, fax, data and multimedia traffic onto a single multi-purpose fibre-optic communications network. The fibre-optic network is unique in Australia.
The carrier grade broadband Internet offered by Uecomm ensures permanent, secure and congestion-free Internet access at a speed suitable for business needs. Uecomm’s fibre broadband network attracts customers such as Queensland Health, AXA Australia, the Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board in Melbourne, and a number of universities Australia wide.
Uecomm owns and operates networking infrastructure in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne and leases fibre capacity in Adelaide, Canberra and Perth. South East Queensland’s coverage extends from Chermside, to Mt Coot-tha, the Brisbane CBD, the Port of Brisbane, Nerang, and Burleigh Waters.
History:Uecomm, originally known as United Energy Telecommunications (UET), was formed in 1996 as a subsidiary of United Energy. In 1997, the company became a licensed telecommunications carrier and began building fibre networks and in 2004. Following a takeover offer from SingTel Optus Pty Ltd, Uecomm became a wholly owned subsidiary of Optus Networks Pty Ltd.
